Envision Energy, a global leader in green technology, has secured a landmark contract for ACWA Power’s 1.1 GW onshore wind farm in Egypt’s Gulf of Suez region, which will become one of the largest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
This groundbreaking collaboration will significantly increase Egypt’s renewable energy capacity, supporting the country’s and the Middle East and North Africa ’s energy transition and sustainable development goals.
The project is managed by Suez Wind Energy, a joint venture between Saudi Arabian companies ACWA Power and HAU Energy, with financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
It will feature 138 state-of-the-art 8 MW wind turbines from Envision Energy, designed for high wind speeds and sandy environments, and will include 25 years of long-term maintenance services, ensuring optimal performance and reliability throughout its lifetime.
Envision designs, sells, and operates smart wind turbines, smart storage system and green hydrogen solutions through Envision Energy; AIoT-powered batteries through Envision AESC; and the world's largest AIoT operating system through Envision Digital.
“We are thrilled to be part of this transformative project in Egypt.” Kane Xu , Senior Vice President and President of International Product Lines at Envision Energy, commented: “As the world accelerates its transition to cleaner energy, this project highlights the power of innovation and collaboration to increase sustainability.
It underscores our commitment to delivering tailored solutions that address the specific challenges of renewable energy deployment in diverse environments.”
Envision Energy’s 8 MW platform turbines can be customized with different blade configurations and hub heights to optimize energy capture in a variety of conditions. Backed by Envision’s industry-leading vertical integration of the supply chain and in-house development and manufacturing of critical components, these turbines deliver superior quality and reliability.
Additionally, the use of Envision’s Galileo system, which analyzes real-time wind data to define precise loading conditions for component and system testing, ensures unmatched performance.
This project marks an important milestone on the path to clean energy in the Middle East and North Africa region and offers wide-ranging economic and environmental benefits.
It will enhance Egypt’s renewable energy infrastructure, attract new investment, drive innovation and create employment opportunities. By setting a new benchmark for large-scale renewable energy projects, the wind farm underlines Envision Energy’s commitment to the global energy transition and lays the foundation for future collaborations around the world.
