World Drone Sports Federation and the National Cognitive Science Industry Association (NACSI) Lay the Foundation for the Global Expansion of Drone Sports

BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA – The 2025 Drone Show Korea, the largest drone exhibition in Asia, will be held at BEXCO in Busan from February 26 to 28. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event, adding special significance to the occasion. During the exhibition, the World Drone Sports Federation, chaired by Dr Woo Hyun-ho, will hold a global declaration ceremony and sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with representatives from eight countries: 

- Chairman Yang Jincai (China, World UAV Federation , Chairman) 

- Preetwant Singh (Singapore, World UAV Federation Vice President) 

- Kho Han Mien (Malaysia, Global Advanced Drone Academy) 

- Parn SingKham (Thailand, PP World Technology) 

- Asha W. Saelan (Indonesia, BETA) 

- Batsukh A. (Mongolia, National Drone Association) 

- Lee Seung-ho (Vietnam, KOZZ)

The MoU signing ceremony and declaration will be led by Dr Woo Hyun-ho, CEO of the Drone Division, who has set his sights on expanding the reach of drone sports, nurturing talent in the industry, creating new job opportunities, and fostering a healthy recreational culture for youth. As part of his efforts, Dr Woo aims to introduce new drone sports disciplines and has already organized national drone competitions at the Daejeon Robot Convergence Festival in both 2023 and 2024. Drawing on the experience of hosting these competitions, Dr Woo is now focused on globalizing drone sports by establishing standardized competition regulations and operational systems across various disciplines.

Since 2023, the World Drone Sports Federation has made significant stridesin promoting drone sports globally, with visits to countries like Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia to engage with local drone associations and universities. These efforts have received invaluable support from Dr. Kwon Hee-choon of the Korea Cognitive Science Industry Association (NACSI). Looking ahead, the Federation plans to collaborate closely with NACSI to host international competitions and partner with a wide array of drone-related associations and companies in Korea to further elevate the sport.

The global declaration and MoU signing ceremony at the Drone Show Korea in Busan will kickstart an exciting series of events, including a competition scheduled to take place at Gia Dinh University in Vietnam in March. A demonstration event will be held in China in May, and Singapore plans to nurture 24 teams for a national competition. Additionally, a drone sports competition is set to take place at Bandung University in Indonesia, with upcoming events planned in Thailand, Malaysia, and Mongolia.

Drone sports are proving to be a great foundation for developing the drone industry and cultivating talent. With strong support from the Singapore government, universities, and key stakeholders, we are looking forward to creating more teams and hosting additional competitions in Singapore."

Dr. Kwon Hee-choon also spoke at the event, stating, "We are committed to encouraging more countries to join the global drone sports movement and aim to host the Drone Sports World Cup here in Korea in the near future." Dr Woo Hyun-ho, Chairman of the World Drone Sports Federation, added, "It is essential to develop additional drone sports disciplines and to standardize international competition regulations. Through collaboration with various drone associations and companies in Korea, we aim to showcase Korea’s world-leading drone technology to a global audience."

The signing ceremony is a key step in the Federation's goal to make drone sports a global phenomenon, paving the way for future competition, collaboration, and technological advancements.
