Following successful SPE roundtable events in Germany in recent years, the first SPE roundtable in Asia was launched on 30thSeptember 2024. SPE experts and around 50 visitors from all over Asia met in Taipei, Taiwan. In addition to deep-dive training sessions and comprehensive presentations, there was a lively exchange with fruitful discussions –successful continuation of the renowned SPE Industrial Partner Network's roundtable event series.

The SPE Industrial Partner Network hosted the first SPE roundtable in Asia for an industry-leading exchange about the opportunities offered through the Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) technology. The conference focused on the status of SPE with an emphasis on SPE protocols, international standardization as well as products, and applications for SPE, leading to productive discussions on target applications and market introduction. The event took place at the North Lounge of the Taipei International Convention Center, close to the famous 101 tower.

Whether in the morning sessions on SPE technology or the use-case approach in the afternoon, the participants, who had joined from various Asian countries, received a deep insight into SPE application in the process industry, especially on Advanced Physical Layer (APL) from design to installation guidelines. In addition, the discussions were opened for other industrial application opportunities, both in existing applications or in potential new implementation. Here, hosts and participants, focused on the value SPE adds to key areas of application in the industrial environment and building automation. In the following sessions the discussions were opened for SPE applications indifferent other industries and markets. The exchange on useful applications of SPE technology was the most important topic for the participants. Experts and participants were in a lively exchange about possible areas of application based on some applications that have already been implemented on the market or are currently under development.

It was a pleasure for the SPE Industrial Partner Network to welcome 50+participants to this first SPE roundtable event in Taiwan. Their positive feedback with the request for further roundtable meetings is essential for the Network in driving the SPE journey around the world.

Via the partner network:

The SPE Industrial Partner Network is based in Rahden in Westphalia and is an equal alliance of companies that promote Single Pair Ethernet technology as the basis for rapid and successful growth of IIoT. The aim of the association is to establish SPE on the market as a new Ethernet technology in the sense of a comprehensive ecosystem with all necessary components.

We also see ourselves as a partner of the Industrial Ethernet user groups and would like to support them in the adaptation of this new "physical layer" for PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, CC-LinkIE, for example.

The bundling of competences of the individual companies should give users an investment security to invest in this technology. Other interested companies are welcome to become new members. Shaping the future together - talk to us!
