From 13 to 15 September 2021, ARBURG will be exhibiting at rapid + TCT in Chicago, Illinois/USA. On Level 2, at Stand E7619, two freeformers and a large number of sample parts will be used to demonstrate the capabilities of ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF). The freeformers will be producing customised grippers for robotic systems live, as well as a functional component for the automotive industry made from soft, original TPU.
freeformer 200-3X: Functional prototype made from black TPU
As an example of a typical automotive part in the engine compartment, a freeformer 200-3X will be producing a hose made from thermoplastic polyurethane Texin 770A (hardness 70 Shore A) and water-soluble support material for connection to the HVAC unit (air conditioning system). The full scope of this leaktight yet flexible TPU connecting part can be used for prototype vehicle function tests.
freeformer 300-3X: Individualised operating resource in batch size 1
At the trade fair, a freeformer 300-3X will be converting PC/ABS, TPU (hardness 70 Shore A) and water-soluble support material into a two-component gripper with a hard housing and a soft membrane. The membrane expands as soon as compressed air is fed through, while the hard housing ensures its shape remains stable. The entire component assembly is created in a single work step.
Lots of components for industrial applications
Numerous functional parts will provide insight for trade visitors into the capabilities of the freeformers exhibited. On show will be flip-top closures made from partly crystalline PP and soft TPE, resorbable implants made of FDA-approved original material and patient-specific tablets with variable density and filling content.
